Walking & Hiking
The Tiroler Zugspitz Arena is a wonderful region for both novice and experienced walkers and hikers, and there are numerous Via Ferrata/Klettersteig routes for those looking for a little bit more adventure.
Ehrwald is served by a number of lifts including the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn which is a 10 minute cable car ride, up 2996m, to the Zugspitze which is the highest peak in Germany. The Ehrwalder Alm cable car at the other end of the Wetterstein range is another option leading to some wonderful walks high up in the mountains.

Mountain biking
Mountain biking is another popular past time and bikes can be hired from the sports shops in the village, the latest prices can be found online.
The village has an Olympic sized swimming pool and sauna which are 5 minutes walk from the house. There are indoor and outdoor tennis courts for tennis enthusiasts, and a climbing hall and outdoor climbing walls.
Bavarian palaces
The Bavarian Castles of King Ludwig, Schloss Neu Schwanstein and Schloss Linderhof, are 40 minutes drive from the village. Munich is within easy reach either by train or car and we are ideally situated for beer enthusiasts wishing to visit the 'Oktober Fest' which takes place at the end of September each year.
Day trips
Innsbruck is a 40 minute drive away and Italy and Switzerland are also within easy driving distance.
Golf
There is a 9 hole, par 36 Golf Course in the village which is due to be extended to 18 holes within the next 3 years, golf equipment can be hired at the course. More golf courses are within 30 minutes driving distance for the real golf enthusiast, in both Austria and Germany.
There is a summer toboggan run and fun park in the adjacent village of Biberwier.
Eating out
There are in the region of 20 Restaurants and Coffee Houses in the village offering a range of foods from traditional Austrian fayre to Italian and even a Kebab house! The larger hotels also welcome visitors to their restaurants and there are also a couple of take away's. The daily menu rate, during summer 2008, averaged approximately 15 Euros per person excluding drinks.
Evening entertainment
Evening entertainment includes weekly performances by the local band, traditional folk dancing displays & various festivals throughout the summer.
